Hurricane Ian is expected to make landfall on the western coast of Central Florida on Thursday, with the worst impacts expected to stay well north of South Florida. For South Florida, we still expect plenty of heavy rainfall with flooding being a significant concern. The flooding concerns are also exacerbated by high King Tides this week, which are some of the highest tides of the year in South Florida. There will also be the potential for a few tornadoes in the outer bands of Hurricane Ian -- especially Tuesday. Residents, please remain vigilant. Residents can find current information about what to do before, during and after a storm at miamidade.gov/emergency, by calling 311, and by following Miami-Dade County’s social media channels. Miami-Dade County encourages residents to download the ReadyMDC app, which is available for iPhone and Android. Call 1-800-4-OUTAGE (1-800-468-8243) immediately to report a dangerous condition such as a downed power line. Please call 911 for life-threatening emergencies.
