This Friday, March 17, 2023, marks a month of hunger striking by people detained at Mesa Verde ICE Processing Center and the Golden State Annex - demanding their collective liberation and the shut down of these centers. Please share the following calls to action with your organization and community partners across California and the country!
On March 7, 2023 four hunger strikers were violently transferred from Mesa Verde to El Paso, TX. They were returned to Mesa Verde last night. Yesterday, March 14, 2023, three additional strikers were violently arrested by officers in full military gear and GEO officers with batons, rubber bullets, and pepper spray and transferred from Golden State Annex to El Paso, TX. We celebrate the return of the initial four hunger strikers and condemn the blatant violence from ICE and GEO Group. It is clear that hunger strikers will NEVER be safe in their custody. We need COLLECTIVE RELEASE and the SHUT DOWN OF THESE CENTERS NOW.

International Women's Day
International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8th each year to honor the achievements of women and to raise awareness about gender disparities and discrimination, as well as promote global support for women.
The first official International Women's Day was held on March 19, 1911, and was supported by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. Since then, the holiday has been observed annually and has grown to become a global celebration of all women.
International Women's Day is important because it provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress that has been made towards equality, as well as the work that still needs to be done. It is a time to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and to recognize the challenges they face in their daily lives. Ultimately, IWD serves as a reminder that amplifying women's rights is essential for building a fair and just society.
