International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8th each year to honor the achievements of women and to raise awareness about gender disparities and discrimination, as well as promote global support for women.

The first official International Women's Day was held on March 19, 1911, and was supported by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. Since then, the holiday has been observed annually and has grown to become a global celebration of all women.

International Women's Day is important because it provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress that has been made towards equality, as well as the work that still needs to be done. It is a time to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and to recognize the challenges they face in their daily lives. Ultimately, IWD serves as a reminder that amplifying women's rights is essential for building a fair and just society.
